WELCOME

The Association came into being in October 2004.

Membership of the Association is open to all retired employees and retired former employees of the University, in all categories, including semi-retired employees. Joint membership with spouse or partner is also available at no extra cost.

(Associate membership is open to those who have retired from a university other than Exeter and are resident in Exeter. Associate members may participate in any of the activities of the Association but may not hold office or vote at General Meetings. Please indicate on the Membership form if you wish to apply for this type of membership.)

Members and Associate members pay an annual subscription, currently 6. A Membership application form can be dowloaded as a pdf file from this link, and this form also contains a list of currently active Special Interest Groups.

Various general social events take place throughout the year, including a Coffee Morning on the last Tuesday of most months. There are also a number of Special Interest Groups who organize more specific activities.

Currently the Association's membership includes very few retired members of staff based in Cornwall as its activities tend to be focused on the Exeter area and its Devon surroundings. However, special group outings do take members from time to time into Cornwall and UERSA would welcome an interest from potential Cornwall colleagues in extending its activities in the Duchy.

For contacts and further information, please follow the links on the left.

What's New

The September Newsletter (no.40) has now been circulated, and a pdf copy can be downloaded here. As well as our usual mix of UERSA news and information, this edition contains details and Agenda for the next Annual General Meeting (see below).

Our Summer Party at the Cricket Ground took place on 29th June, and a gallery of pictures is now available on this page.

The recent Sculpture Walk on campus.

Despite some threatening weather, 26 members joined a couple of afternoon tours on 2 August arranged with the University for UERSA, of recent and longer-standing sculptures on the Streatham Estate, some outside, some inside. The tours were led by Naome Glanville, the University's Arts and Culture Co-ordinator, and took in such familiar exhibits as Barbara Hepworth's Figure for Landscape on the lawn opposite Queen's Building and Paul Mount's Skysails, as well as a number of interesting new additions by such sculptors as Peter Randall-Page and Ed Crumpton. A sociable tea between the two tours was enjoyed by all.

Members are encouraged to attend to receive reports on the past year, to offer suggestions for future activities, and to consider putting themselves forward for membership of the Executive Committee. The AGM will end with time for socialising over a glass of wine.

Coffee Mornings are held on the last Tuesday of most months, from 10:00 to 12:00 at The Imperial in New North Road. They are very informal (not to mention noisy on occasion) and an average of around 30 members attend.  A reminder about parking charges: If you pay for parking and show your 'parking receipt' this amount will be refunded at the bar on your purchase of coffees, etc.
